Introduction

Offered as either a 3-day Instructor-led course (TIFM 3000) or as a series of online modules (TIFM 2000), the focus of TIFM 2000/3000 is on the operation and maintenance of the critical environment’s infrastructure.

Capacity Planning and Reporting / Budget Planning

Discussion of the various methods for identifying and reporting each type of capacity that is important to the operation of the critical space The study Includes power, cooling, physical space, and more Review of budget concerns regarding typical high dollar items that will require planning and approvals.

Server Components, Networking & Design Methods/Cabling

Study of the IT equipment typically supported by the critical infrastructure. Identification of the proper installation and layout of the floor and surrounding spaces

Security, Fire and Life Safety includes Emergency Power off Button (EPO)

Focused training on protecting the critical environment from security risks both in practice and design. Review of each component of a critical environment that ensures safety and security of the physical space as well as personnel Identification on how each one is used in the prevention/ident cation of fires & use to ensure the safety of individuals working around the data center & support spaces.

UPS, ATS and ASTS – Transferring Critical Power Sources

Identification of the operation/maintenance requirements for critical components Discussion of the capability of static power transfer and the ability of each component to perform a source transfer without interruption to the load Instruction on the limitations of each system and an understanding of how to minimize the potential for outage.

Power Distribution, Metering, and Infrastructure / Tier Logic

Review of switchgear, fuses, breakers, buss work and more. Detailed instruction on each piece of equipment that carries electrical current from the source (utility / generators / batteries) to the loads in the critical space.

Power Generation, PLC and Backup Methodology - DC Power Sources

Detailed discussion of generator systems and controls. In-depth study of control logic and design Detailed discussion of the specific maintenance actions require for types of systems4. Identification of specific requirements for ensuring continued operability.

HVAC and Chiller Plants – CRAC, Chiller, Cooling Towers, Chemistry, Piping Systems

Detailed instruction on various methods of climate control for critical environments. Analysis and discussion of each type of system as to functionality and maintenance to ensure availability and typical problem identification and resolution.

Documentation, Drawings and Compliance / CMMS

Identification of proper documentation practices Types of drawings encountered in the practice of critical environment system evaluations Determination of proper asset control practices as they pertain to maintenance documentation, records keeping and tracking of equipment life cycles.
